Katabami Café is now open at Shonai Shrine 🍙 Tucked inside the grounds of Shonai Shrine, Katabami Café quietly opened its doors—a small café with a big heart. The star of the menu is handmade onigiri, made with local ingredients and the kind of care that takes time. The most popular so far? The unatama onigiri—a flavorful combination of eel and bits of omelette. But what makes Katabami truly unique is its story. About 30 years ago, the current chief priest’s mother ran a café here. Locals still remember it fondly. Now, her son has brought it back, using the very same recipes she once served—nothing added, nothing changed; using local ingredients and working with local producers the priest trusts.
