Gassan Mountain Water Shortage Relief Project: “One More Plastic Bottle Campaign” Launch
Due to record-breaking high temperatures and low rainfall, water shortages on Mount Gassan have become severe. This situation has also impacted mountain climbing facilities. In response, as the peak climbing season approaches, a collaborative campaign involving all stakeholders and climbers to help secure water resources will be launched.
Please note that the water shortage induces a modification in the operation of the facilities on the mountain (facilities might not be able to provide food or drinks anymore)
Campaign period:
From Saturday, August 2, 2025, until the water shortage is resolved
“One More Plastic Bottle Campaign”
Climbers are encouraged to bring one extra plastic bottle filled with water or to carry water bottles (500 ml or above) provided at the 8th station up to the summit by hand. Unopened bottles will be used to cook at the lodges/shrines, and opned bottles filled with tap water will be used for maintaining the facilities (cleaning, etc).
★ Participants will receive a thank-you gift from the Gassan Shrine.
Thank you for your cooperation and your understanding.
