(November 1st, 2025-March 31st, 2026) Kamo Aquarium to temporarily close down for renovations!

Kamo Aquarium is currently working on a major renovation and expansion to make your experience even more enjoyable. This includes enlarging our jellyfish exhibition and relocating functions such as the research lab and lecture room.

A new building is being added on the south side of the aquarium to house the relocated lecture room and research lab, while expanding the jellyfish display area.

Please note: The aquarium will be fully closed from Saturday, November 1, 2025, to Tuesday, March 31, 2026 to allow for renovations. Once complete, the new jellyfish exhibition area will add approximately 400㎡ of space, and the number of species on display will increase from about 80 to around 100.

We can’t wait for you to see the new and improved exhibits!

Construction Schedule (subject to change)

2024

• January: Construction begins and preparations for expansion
• March: New building construction begins (through July 2025)

2025

• August: Lecture room closed in preparation for renovation
• September: Main building renovations begin (through February 2026)
  Renovation starts from the back-of-house areas; the main exhibition areas will remain open.
• November: Aquarium temporarily closed for interior renovations (through end of March 2026)
  Full closure during this period.

2026

• February: Construction completed
• March: Preparations for reopening
• April: Grand re-opening
