Section of the path from Mt. Yudono to Mt. Gassan’s collapsed & blocked

A section of the Mt. Gassan trail has recently been found to have collapsed.
Following an on-site inspection by our staff and related organizations, it has been determined that repairs cannot be carried out in the foreseeable future.

In consideration of visitor safety, we have decided to temporarily close part of the Mt. Gassan trail (reminder: which official hiking season only starts on July 1st) until further notice.

We kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation.

  • Location: From the Mt. Gassan Trail Ubagatake Fork (toward Yudonosan Shrine Main Hall) to the Yudonosan Trailhead
  • Closure Period: July 19th

(Update):
Restoration work is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, July 16, and the trail is expected to reopen for passage on Saturday, July 19.

We kindly ask all those planning to climb Mt. Gassan to take note of this situation and assist in sharing the information.
