Every year, the rice farming village of Oyama organizes the Oyama Sake Nouveau Festival. Oyama village has been brewing sake for more than 450 years. It is the perfect occasion to discover Shonai region's most famous sake such as Dewa no Yuki 出羽ノ雪 or Tomizu 十水.
The participation ticket grants you access to 4 different breweries in the village, within which you can taste as many kinds of sake as you want.

Every year, the people of Tsuruoka gather on the 25th of May to pay tribute to Sugawara no Michizane, also known as Tenjin, the god of scholars and knowledge. Masked men walk the streets to serve people saké for free.
